OUR COVID RESPONSE
During this unprecedented time of the CoVID-19 global pandemic, the SCL Education Group are taking every appropriate measure to keep our learners, children, staff and partners CoVID-19 secure.
Our designated team of specialist staff are tracking the daily guidance released by the Government to ensure our CoVID-19 strategy is compliant yet dynamic, to account for any amendments.
SCL are working in partnership with the Health and Safety Department (https://www.hsdept.co.uk/) to substantiate all of the safety requirements including regulations which relate to hygiene, infection control, social distancing and the necessary actions should anyone connected to SCL have a confirmed case of or displays symptoms of the Coronavirus.
SCL are committed to delivering on our strategy of 'safety for all' and supporting wellbeing at every step of the journey forward.
RETURNING TO ACADEMY SAFEGUARDING GUIDANCE
In line with Government and grassroots sport guidance, the intention is for all of our academies to reopen to our progressing second year, and new first year learners on Tuesday 3rd September 2020. There may be some variation on start dates due to the viability of academies being able to open their facilities.
SCL have developed contingency plans for all learners who are completing our NCFE qualification, maths and English, should any authority order a local or national lockdown.
SCL have been working closely with academy managers during this period to ensure that all of our learners and staff who deliver on our 16-19 programmes, can operate safely and every measure possible is implemented to mitigate against the risks posed by CoVID-19.
OUR STORY: INNOVATING TO EDUCATE DURING COVID
In unprecedented times, SCL found themselves in a position where their only choice was to ‘Innovate to educate’. We needed to accelerate our learning innovation strategy by 6 months to ensure that our learners’ studies were unaffected by the new climate; our focus is always our learners' future.
As many businesses in the UK faced challenges and venue closures as a result of social distancing, SCL were put in a position where their education centres were closing by the day. Moving quickly and working together, they rolled out their learning innovation plans six months earlier than originally planned; within just over a week everyone was up and running.
Using Microsoft Teams in order to ‘Innovate to educate’, SCL launched a platform for their teaching, collaborative working and engagement of students. This innovative and forward thinking way of working in a digital age has been embraced by learners and teaching staff with open arms.
Utilising Microsoft Teams, every SCL Tutor had their own education channel developed so that they could teach in virtual classrooms. They now work collaboratively with their learner cohorts and can share teaching resources, video, run polls on lessons and run fun challenges to motivate learners whilst staying indoors.
